MPA Contributes to Goldwater Report on MCSO

Tuesday, December 2nd, 2008

MPA President, Sgt. Fabian Cota, contributed to one of the nation’s well-respected think tanks.  The Goldwater Institute’s Director of the Scharf-Norton Center for Constitutional Litigation, Clint Bolick, issued a policy report today recommending practical ways MCSO can better achieve its goals of quality law enforcement, support services and detention, including:

*  Regular audits by the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors

*  The legislature formally clearing up blurry jurisdictional lines.

*  The legislature adopting uniform standards for clearance of criminal investigations and requiring prompt, accurate reporting of clearance rates.

Sgt. Cota gave the prestigious institute statistics and law enforcement operational procedures that contributed to the well-rounded policy report.
