Voting Starts & Can End Today!

Today (02.08.09) is a historic date for Mesa Police, who for the first time, will vote for which employee group it will entrust with the upcoming contract (MOU) with the city of Mesa.  We urge you all to vote MPA as soon as possible, by going to the city clerk’s office (20 N Center, 1st floor) on your break (lunch) or after work and cast your vote in person. Please, talk to your fellow Officers about doing the same. After talking to many Officers, it has become apparent, many of them do not know the FOP does not represent a single major police department in Arizona on any contract. NOT A SINGLE ONE.  There is a reason they have been voted out of every major city and don’t represent police in other jurisdictions (Phoenix, Tempe, Chandler, Glendale, Maricopa County). The MPA on the other hand can and will use our connections with our fellow APA  Police organizations representing these other jurisdictions, to craft Mesa Police the best contract possible. THIS BENEFITS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY.

The recent economic times have tested the metal of many of these jurisdiction’s MOU. Some have been changed to make them stronger, and others have found some things that need to be tweaked. This is important information to have and use, particularly when City Managers in Arizona constantly meet, discuss and adopt the same approaches. Only the MPA can rely on the same legal services and experience to craft the best MOU for Mesa Police. Our MOU will take into account all police trends experienced in all those jurisdictions including current trends and solutions, and will no doubt be the best.

So again, please vote MPA and talk to others about doing the same. It is time we join the rest of Arizona’s law enforcement agencies and have a strong MOU covering and protecting our employees.
